In some cases, you do not need to apply for a work permit for your foreign worker. Then reporting to UWV is sufficient. In other cases, you don’t have to do anything at all. For more information, see the category your employee falls into.
For workers from Ukraine, you do not need to apply for a work permit if the following applies:
- Your employee is covered by the European Union’s Temporary Protection Directive.
- He has an employment contract.
This exemption applies from April 1, 2022, and is retroactive to March 4, 2022. The Temporary Protection Directive applies to all refugees from Ukraine. This gives them the right to work in the Netherlands.
Reporting a worker from Ukraine
If you want to hire a worker from Ukraine, you must notify us. The Labor Inspectorate uses the information from the report to verify your compliance with labor laws.
Rights for workers from Ukraine
Workers from Ukraine have the same rights as Dutch workers. For example, right to safe workplace, breaks, vacation days and the minimum wage If you have a collective bargaining agreement, it also applies to your employee from Ukraine.
